GETTING HERE IS PART OF THE FUN
We highly recommend that you bring a high clearance vehicle such as an 4x4, SUV or truck to this adventurous road as it will be rough, rugged and sandy!
PASSENGER CARS WITH LOW CLEARANCE ARE NOT RECOMMENDED.
DIRECTIONS THROUGH SAN DIEGO:
San Diego, California is the most direct route to Tecate, B.C, Mexico. You will pass through little Mexican towns and scenic mountains. However, for anyone wanting to minimize travel through Mexico, the route through Mexicali is an alternative.
Important: Gas, water ice and supplies can be purchased at all border‐crossing areas. For more directions, head to Google Map on any device and type in Cañon De Guadalupe, Mexico.
To get to Los Manantiales Hot Springs from San Diego, California drive east on highway 94. It is the last good spot to gas up! At approximately 39 miles turn right and go south on Tecate Road (#188). It’s about 2.1 miles to the border‐crossing (open 6am to midnight). Four blocks past the border, turn left on Avenida Benito Juarez (Mexico Highway 2) passing Parque Hidalgo (Tecate’s Central Park) which will be on your right. Continue east and follow signs onto Highway 2 Coata (new toll road) toward Mexicali. You will pass through the small towns of Valle Las Palmas, El Condor and La Rumorosa (your very last chance for supplies) before beginning the 15 mile descent to the valley floor and Laguna Salada “KM 28”. Watch for a highway sign announcing “Cañon De Guadalupe”. Turn right on to a graded dirt road, reset your odometer and go south.
PLEASE NOTE: THE GRADED DIRT ROAD IS THE RECOMMENDED ROUTE FOR THOSE COMING FOR THE FIRST TIME!!
At 27.2 miles, upon passing the Italian Olive Plantation, GPS coordinates 32o 12′ 49″N 115o 42′ 15″W. Turn right, southwest onto another graded dirt road.
This last segment begins with 6.5 miles of mostly good but increasingly winding dirt road. Once you have reached 6.5 miles you will see an information sign that says Guadalupe Canyon Hot Springs Campo Los Manantiales. As soon as you have reached the gate of our campsite please honk and wait for 3 minutes. We will be more than happy to receive you and guide you to your camping area where your hot tub will be ready for you.
DIRECTIONS THROUGH MEXICALI:
Take interstate 8, highway 78 or highway 86 to highway 111 in the Imperial Valley and go south on highway 111 to the border crossing at Calexico Mexicali. Be sure to take a break to make sure you have all necessary water, ice, gas and food supplies in Calexico before crossing the border.
Once you cross the border at Mexicali, B.C. Mexico merge into Blvd. Lopez Mateos. You must travel EAST. San Felipe Tijuana for 3.8 miles. Turn right on Blvd. Lazaro Cardenas to Tijuana highway 2. Reset odometer and go west 3.0 miles to merge onto highway 2 to “KM 28”.
